Anduril Space
  • Anduril acquires ExoAnalytic Solutions, a space-sensing firm operating a global network of over 400 ground-based telescopes used for satellite tracking and missile defense.
  • Golden Dome positioning: The deal is a direct play for contracts under President Trump’s Golden Dome initiative — a space-based shield designed to intercept ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles.
  • First space acquisition: This is Anduril’s first deal under its dedicated space business unit and its 11th acquisition overall, marking a major expansion beyond its autonomous drone roots.
  • Massive telescope network: ExoAnalytic’s 400+ telescope systems generate billions of observations used by U.S. national security agencies to track orbital activity and support missile warning missions.
  • Space workforce more than doubles: Anduril’s ~120 space employees will be joined by ExoAnalytic’s ~130, more than doubling the division’s headcount overnight.
  • Three spacecraft launching in 2026: Anduril plans to self-fund three space missions this year, leveraging ExoAnalytic’s expertise in infrared tracking, proximity operations, and onboard data processing.
  • Valuation context: Anduril last raised $2.5 billion at a $30.5 billion valuation in June 2025 and is reportedly in talks to roughly double that figure in a new funding round.

Anduril Industries, the defense technology company founded by Oculus creator Palmer Luckey in 2017, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire ExoAnalytic Solutions — a national security firm specializing in space situational awareness and missile defense. The move is Anduril’s first acquisition under its dedicated space business unit and its 11th acquisition overall.

The deal sends a clear signal: Anduril is no longer content to be known primarily for its autonomous drone technology. It wants a central role in what could become one of the most consequential and lucrative defense programs in recent U.S. history — President Donald Trump’s “Golden Dome.”

Golden Dome is the Trump administration’s initiative to build a space-based missile defense shield capable of intercepting ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles. The program envisions thousands of satellites working in concert to detect, track, and neutralize incoming threats at multiple stages of flight. Hundreds of defense contractors are vying for a piece of it, and tracking systems — exactly what ExoAnalytic specializes in — sit at its core.

Anduril already received a Pentagon contract in late 2025 for space-based interceptor development. This acquisition is designed to dramatically deepen that position.

ExoAnalytic Solutions was founded in 2008 to adapt missile defense sensor technology for tracking spacecraft in orbit. Over the years it evolved into operating one of the world’s largest commercial telescope networks — more than 400 ground-based optical systems deployed at sites around the globe. Those telescopes continuously monitor thousands of orbital objects, generating billions of observations used by U.S. national security agencies to detect satellite maneuvers, flag anomalous behavior, and support missile warning missions.

Beyond hardware, ExoAnalytic brings deep expertise in modeling, simulation, and classified software for national security space programs. The company has roughly 130 employees across facilities in California, Colorado, and Alabama.

Anduril currently employs around 120 people in its space defense division. Adding ExoAnalytic’s 130 will more than double that workforce in a single transaction — a significant overnight scaling of talent in a highly specialized field. ExoAnalytic will be integrated directly into Anduril rather than operated as a standalone subsidiary, though both existing government and commercial customers will continue to be served.

The acquisition also supports Anduril’s own orbital ambitions. The company plans to launch three self-funded spacecraft this year as R&D missions. One, in partnership with Argo Space, will test autonomous sensor processing during dynamic orbital maneuvers. A second, with Impulse Space, will send an infrared sensor and mission processor to geosynchronous orbit aboard the Mira space tug to demonstrate proximity operations near GEO satellites. ExoAnalytic’s experience processing high-volume space tracking data is expected to directly inform both missions.

Anduril last raised $2.5 billion at a $30.5 billion valuation in June 2025. Reports from early March 2026 indicate the company is in discussions to raise additional capital in a new round that would roughly double that valuation. The company is also a key contractor on the U.S. Army’s $22 billion augmented reality headset program, further diversifying its defense portfolio. Financial terms of the ExoAnalytic deal were not disclosed; the acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval.

The deal reflects a broader scramble among defense tech firms to position themselves ahead of a potential wave of government spending on space-based military capabilities. With adversarial satellites increasingly operating in proximity to American assets, Washington’s appetite for persistent, high-fidelity space awareness has never been stronger. By combining ExoAnalytic’s global sensor network with its own autonomy and command-and-control software, Anduril is betting it can offer the Pentagon an integrated solution few competitors can match.
