“Biggest Refund Cycle Ever” Is Coming With 2026 Tax Season

President Trump promised during a recent address that Americans can expect the largest tax refund season of all time next spring, with many families poised to save between $11,000 and $20,000 annually through new tax relief measures.

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett echoed this on FOX Business’ Varney & Co., saying, “We are going to see the biggest refund cycle ever in the history of America, and people are going to get massive refund checks.”

He added that refunds could reach “a couple-thousand-dollar refund” for many, calling the numbers striking.

These refunds stem from the “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed in the summer of 2025. Because the IRS did not adjust withholding tables to reflect the new tax breaks—including provisions like no tax on tips, overtime pay, and certain Social Security benefits—workers will see the full benefit as a lump sum when filing 2026 returns for the 2025 tax year.

Hassett explained, “We didn’t pass the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ until the middle of the summer. And so a lot of the tax changes, which affect last year, weren’t in any tax forms that people filled out at the beginning of the year.”

Hassett also pointed to strong real wage growth under the administration. He noted that wages for typical workers rose 3.7% while core inflation sat at 1.6%, delivering “real wages [growing] at a rate of about 2 [to] 2.5%.” For blue-collar workers, this translates to “an almost $2,000 raise this year after inflation. “He predicted that, just as in Trump’s first term, “people will see it in their wallets.”

The administration’s focus on boosting aggregate supply has helped drive down prices, with Hassett calling the November inflation report “blockbuster.” This approach mirrors the first Trump term, where the economy grew around 3% with inflation near 1%.

While some polls show lingering concerns about affordability, the combination of tax relief and wage gains signals a clear path toward putting more money back into American pockets. As these refunds arrive, they will provide tangible proof that pro-growth policies deliver real results for hardworking families and strengthen the U.S. economy from the ground up.

When will the bottom 50% pay their fair share??

Tens of millions don’t work at all, they don’t pay a cent in taxes. They often “earn” direct/indirect equivalent of $100,000+ each in welfare entitlements and other socialist handouts.

Tens of millions more do work, but get 100% refunds.

The upper half pay for the entire show!! I take care of my family of five on my income, yet with armed-taxation, Its like having an additional five people all gold-bricking unemployables as dependents, that never ever say THANK YOU.
