President-elect Donald Trump on Dec. 10 pledged to expedite permitting and trim environmental reviews for investors financing large-scale job-creating and power-generating projects.
“Any person or company investing One Billion Dollars, Or More, in the United States of America, will receive fully expedited approvals and permits, including, but in no way limited to, all Environmental approvals. Get Ready to Rock!!!” Trump wrote in a mid-afternoon post on Truth Social.
The president-elect did not quantify if he had specific industries in mind in offering expedited “approvals and permits” for $1 billion-plus projects, but permitting reform has been a theme in Congress over the past two years, especially for energy and mining proposals.
Among measures that could be adopted before the lame-duck Congress adjourns on Dec. 19 is the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, adopted by the Senate Natural Resources Committee in July without further advance.
