First Lady Jill Biden on Monday admitted that President Joe Biden made the right decision in dropping his bid for reelection, and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.
The president was pressured to drop his bid earlier this year after a poor performance during the presidential debate against former President Donald Trump. His performance prompted questions and scrutiny regarding his mental ability to serve another four years as the country’s commander-in-chief.
Jill Biden said that it was time for her husband to step away from politics, after a five-decade career, and begin a new journey with her.
“It’s time for something new,” the first lady told ABC News. “It was the right call … I’ve had such a great four years and Joe and I, I mean really it has been the honor of our lives. It’ll be tough to maybe step away from it, but we’re starting a new chapter of our lives.”
