Mike Lee will reintroduce a bill Thursday to repeal the FACE Act, which has been weaponized against at least 50 pro-life advocates.

“[Former President] Joe Biden’s unjust weaponization of the FACE Act against pro-life activists and people of faith belongs in the dustbin of history,” Lee, R-Utah, told The Daily Signal. “While President [Donald] Trump is stopping these outrageous prosecutions, we should ensure that no future administration has the ability to persecute Americans through unequal application of the law.”

Since 2021, the Biden-Harris administration’s Justice Department brought criminal or civil cases under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances, or FACE, Act, against pro-lifers who prayed outside abortion clinics and urged women in unplanned pregnancies to choose life.

Twenty-one pro-lifers were convicted and 10 are currently incarcerated.

Biden’s critics accused him and his DOJ of weaponizing the FACE Act against pro-lifers while charging hardly any pro-abortion criminals for the hundreds of attacks on pregnancy resource centers since the May 2022 leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion indicating Roe v. Wade would soon be overturned.

According to data from Former Attorney General Merrick Garland’s DOJ, 97% of FACE Act prosecutions from 1994-2024 were against pro-life Americans.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, released the House companion on Tuesday.

“Americans just spent the last four years being targeted by a weaponized justice system,” Roy said. “The FACE Act was one of the primary weapons of abuse—being used to politically target, arrest, and jail pro-life Americans for speaking out and standing up for life.”

The 21 convicted pro-lifers, many of whom are represented by Catholic law firm Thomas More Society, officially asked Trump to grant them “full and unconditional pardons” on Jan. 15.

The pro-lifers for whom the Thomas More Society requested pardons for are: Joan Bell, Coleman Boyd, Joel Curry, Jonathan Darnel, Eva Edl, Chester Gallagher, William Goodman, Dennis Green, Lauren Handy, Paulette Harlow, John Hinshaw, Heather Idoni, Jean Marshall, Fr. Fidelis Moscinski, Justin Phillips, Paul Place, Paul Vaughn, Bevelyn Beatty Williams, Calvin Zastrow, Eva Zastrow, and James Zastrow.

“While President Trump and his team are already fast at work reversing the damage of the J6 political prosecutions and persecutions through pardons and commutations, I am hopeful those targeted under the FACE Act will be given similar relief,” Roy said. “But importantly, we in Congress need to do our part to eliminate the laws used for the weaponization, including the FACE Act.”

Trump Set to Pardon Pro-Life Activist Targeted by the Biden Regime for Fighting Against Baby Murder https://economiccollapse.report/trump-set-to-pardon-pro-life-activist-targeted-by-the-biden-regime-for-fighting-against-baby-murder/ https://economiccollapse.report/trump-set-to-pardon-pro-life-activist-targeted-by-the-biden-regime-for-fighting-against-baby-murder/#respond Thu, 23 Jan 2025 00:27:26 +0000 https://economiccollapse.report/trump-set-to-pardon-pro-life-activist-targeted-by-the-biden-regime-for-fighting-against-baby-murder/
  • President Donald Trump is set to pardon Bevelyn Williams, a pro-life advocate, who was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison under the Biden administration for blocking access to an abortion clinic.
  • Bevelyn was convicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act for blocking a Manhattan abortion clinic’s entrance in June 2020, causing a staff member’s hand injury.
  • Trump’s pardon is seen as a challenge to the Biden administration’s aggressive enforcement of the FACE Act against pro-life activists and a reaffirmation of his pro-life stance.
  • Bevelyn’s case highlights the perceived double standard within the justice system, as the Biden administration aggressively pursues charges against pro-life activists while turning a blind eye to violence against pregnancy resource centers.
  • The pardon represents a moral victory for the pro-life movement as it signifies the continuation of the fight for life and justice and the refusal to be silenced.
  • (Natural News)—In a move that underscores his commitment to defending pro-life values and challenging what he views as a biased justice system, President Donald Trump is set to pardon pro-life advocate Bevelyn Williams, who was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison under the Biden administration for blocking access to an abortion clinic.

Her husband Rickey confirmed that a pardon from Trump is imminent, though it has not yet been formalized. In an earlier post on X, Rickey said he was in the process of picking Bevelyn up from the Federal Correctional Institution, Aliceville in Alabama.

“I haven’t gotten news that President Trump pardoned my wife just yet,” he told LifeNews. “He is going to, but I haven’t gotten word. But I know she will be released soon.”

Bevelyn, a 33-year-old mother and Christian minister, was convicted in July over charges linked to violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. She was accused of blocking the entrance of a Manhattan abortion clinic in June 2020. According to court documents, the pro-life activist leaned against a clinic door, trapping a staff member’s hand and causing injury.

But Bevelyn argues that the FACE Act has been weaponized to target pro-life activists like her. Her sentencing, which separated her from her two-year-old daughter, has been widely criticized as excessive and emblematic of the Biden administration’s aggressive enforcement of the FACE Act against pro-life demonstrators.

“The concern of being a young mother and a stay-at-home mother was completely disregarded,” Bevelyn said in a statement following her sentencing. She also denounced U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Rochon of the District Court for the Southern District of New York, slamming the magistrate for making it “very clear in the courtroom that she was going to make an example out of me.”

Bevelyn’s journey: From abortion to activism, and now a presidential pardon

Bevelyn’s case is not an isolated incident. Under the Biden administration, the Department of Justice has aggressively pursued charges against pro-life activists under the FACE Act while turning a blind eye to violence against pregnancy resource centers. This perceived double standard has fueled accusations of political bias within the justice system.

Trump’s decision to pardon Williams is seen as a direct rebuke of these policies and a reaffirmation of his pro-life stance. By intervening in her case, Trump is signaling his opposition not only to the culture of abortion, but also to what he views as the weaponization of federal law against conservative and Christian activists.

Bevelyn’s journey to pro-life activism is deeply personal. After enduring abuse, dropping out of high school and struggling with addiction, she had three abortions as a young woman. Her life changed after a spiritual awakening in prison, where she was serving time for money laundering. She later co-founded At the Well Ministries, a Christian organization dedicated to evangelism, pro-life advocacy and aiding the homeless.

Her ministry’s mission statement reflects her unwavering commitment to her faith and her belief in the sanctity of life. Among its mandates is to “speak up, stand for life and demand that abortion be abolished.” Bevelyn’s activism has taken her across the country, where she has protested outside abortion clinics and engaged in what she describes as “cultural and spiritual agitation” to defend the unborn.

For the pro-life activist and her supporters, the pardon represents more than just a legal victory – it is a moral one. The pardon Trump is preparing to issue marks the end of a painful chapter and the beginning of a renewed fight for the values Bevelyn holds dear. In pardoning her, the 47th president is not only freeing a mother from an unjust sentence but also sending a powerful message: The pro-life movement will not be silenced, and the fight for life and justice will continue.
