(Substack)—The commander of Fort McCoy was removed from her position after the U.S. Army base neglected to display photos of President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on a chain-of-command wall.
Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez was suspended as garrison commander of Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. “This suspension is not related to any misconduct,” the U.S. Army Reserve Command stated. “We have no further details to provide at this time while this matter is under review.”
Hegseth reposted an X post on Sunday stating: “Commander of Fort McCoy, whose base chain-of-command board was missing photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseth, has been SUSPENDED.”
The suspension followed a Defense Department investigation into why the chain-of-command wall had empty frames where Trump, Vance, and Hegseth’s photos should have been. A subsequent image showed the frames filled.
“Regarding the Ft. McCoy Chain of Command wall controversy…. WE FIXED IT! Also, an investigation has begun to figure out exactly what happened,” the department’s rapid response account posted on X.
Ramirez took on the garrison commander role in July last year. She previously served as chief of the Reserve Program at the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, among other roles in the Army and Army Reserves.
This action follows other recent leadership changes in the U.S. military. Earlier this month, the Pentagon dismissed the commander of Pituffik Space Force Base in Greenland for undermining Vice President Vance. After Vance’s visit, Col. Susannah Meyers emailed base personnel on March 31, stating, “I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base.”
She added, “I have spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you.”
The Space Force announced Meyers’ removal, citing “loss of confidence in her ability to lead.”
“Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially as it relates to remaining nonpartisan in the performance of their duties,” the statement read.
Additionally, Hegseth dismissed four former aides amid internal conflicts and a leak investigation. He attributed the leaks to “disgruntled employees” who revealed a second Signal chat allegedly discussing Houthi strikes, which included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer.

At Last, a Company With Integrity in the Gold IRA Industry
For several years, I’ve been vetting out precious metals companies in search of the best. I believe in gold and silver but it’s hard to find integrity in the Gold IRA industry. The vast majority operate with shady tactics and gigantic spreads that take advantage of Americans who simply want to protect their life’s savings.
I’ve found a handful that I like and I’ve worked with some of them. By no means would I “unrecommend” them because, again, I vetted them out and found them to be above the fold. Unfortunately, it isn’t hard to be better than the rest when the rest are so darn awful.
After years of searching, I finally found a company that truly operates with integrity. Augusta Precious Metals has three important attributes that set them far above the competition:
- Non-Commissioned Sales Team: I cannot stress how important and unique this is. With just about every other company in the Gold IRA industry, the sales teams make commission from every account they open. This means they steer their clients toward the gold and silver products with the highest commission. With Augusta Precious Metals, the team is solely focused on putting the best gold and silver for their clients into their IRA. They get paid to serve the best interests of the Gold IRA client, NOT their own commission pay.
- Incredibly Low Fees: Most Americans would be shocked if they knew the spread other Gold IRA companies charge. Augusta charges just 5% versus up to 45% elsewhere.
- No Pressure, No Gimmicks: There’s an understanding among most in the Gold IRA industry that fear and pressure is the way to go. Augusta Precious Metals takes a sober approach when working with clients because they hold integrity in the highest possible regard. This is why they don’t offer gimmicks like “free” or “bonus” silver. It’s also why they do not apply pressure tactics to get quick sales. Their educational and transparent approach to doing business is exceedingly rare in the Gold IRA industry.
